About "The Cottrells"
Stephen Cottrell was born in 1964 and describes himself as 35 years young. He is married to Judith who helps out at Cottrellco.com, they have two small boys aged 6 & 8. Also a helper at Cottrell.com is Steve's sister Joanne.
Steve started his working life at a Manchester City Centre accountants, (now called Hacker Young, one of the top ten accountants in the UK.) He quickly decided that the life of a number cruncher was for him. However Steve found the 9-5, commuting into the city was not for him. At 21 years old he decided to set up his own small accountancy firm working from his parents living room in Timperely, Cheshire. At this stage he had a massive clients list of 3. In no time at all Steve had built this number up to 25.
Three years later Steve had the opportunity to purchase the clients of a small accountancy practise in Stockport, this pushed his clients up to 150. These days Cottrells practise from their own premises at Marsland Road, Sale, and have approximately 250 clients, mainly based in South Manchester, but some as far away as Colchester. As well as being an accountant, Steve dabbles in property. Mainly renovating old properties in South Manchester and placing them for rental. A web site for this will be appearing shortly.
In 1999 the opportunity arose to purchase the cottages advertised on this site at Irton Hall, Cumbria, through the owner of the estate, who is also a client. The owner had not realised the full potential of these cottages as an alternative to the mass tourism of the main lakes. This beautiful setting was the ideal setting for a quiet family holiday. Steve himself has stayed with his family at Irton Hall on numerous occasions and has always enjoyed his time there immensely, to the extreme of the children not wanting to leave! Steve is sure you will enjoy yourself just as much as he has and he looks forward to seeing you there!
