Walking

Fishing
Trout fishing can be enjoyed on Esthwaite Water from the shoreline, or loch-style from hired boats. All methods of fishing with rods and boats are available for hire. Golf

There’s a new all-weather golf centre and driving range in Penrith, with a 9-hole pay-as-you-play course and 300 yard driving range. Open 7 days, 9am to 9pm. Just off junction 40 of the M6 on the A66 to Keswick.
Kendal Driving Range is located at Oxenholme Farm, Oxenholme Road near the railway station.

Appleby Golf Course is 2 miles SE of the town. Casual visitors are welcome but as the course is very populare, visitors should call 01768 351432 to avoid disappointment.

Riding
Armathwaite Equestrian Centre. A unique way to explore the Lakeland countryside, is on horseback, escorted by instructors.
